There are cheap options for spare tire. There are two threads on this forum with options. There are cheap options that only fit in the rear, but at least you can continue to drive where you were going!

Is the brake switch well adjusted? I guess the car knows you press the brake pedal from a signal that comes from the brake switch... Might be wrong though.

More air = less filtration. Been running K&N filters on all my last and current cars. Been keeping them for around 20 years without any problem. But I live in the city, with no dirt roads around and the air is mostly clean. Might consider it if I lived on a dirt road or driving on dirt roads...

I've read short trips is really bad for oil dilution. If this is your case, might be better to replace oil a bit more often. But the MM seems to take that into consideration.
