  1. A Spare Tire That Fits Under the Load Floor

so are the Acura RL lug nuts a better option altogether (as compared to flat flanged nuts with or without jam nuts)? also question about jam nuts as i dont have any experience, but these jam nuts go on after the flanged nuts are torqued and are they themselves torqued to some spec as well?
  2. A Spare Tire That Fits Under the Load Floor

Ahh.. I just realized that this wheel is for older E-chassis BMW's that are M12 bolts. The newer F and G chassis BMWs use M14 bolts. I guess that is a no go then. I will investigate those Jam nuts instead.
  3. A Spare Tire That Fits Under the Load Floor

this thought just came to mind...as BMW and other german cars use lug bolts, i know there are stud conversion kits with included nuts that work with their wheels. what is the diameter/thread pitch of the studs on our Acura? could be a bit of a waste to buy a stud conversion kit (or perhaps some...
  4. A Spare Tire That Fits Under the Load Floor

so if going the flange nut route, it would be suggested to use washers as well?
  5. A Spare Tire That Fits Under the Load Floor

i waited as long as i could for an OEM solution or alternative option for a spare tire that won't occupy a lot of the rear cargo volume, but i'll be doing a driving tour with the local BMW CCA in July in some backroad areas and don't want to expose myself to the risk of being without a spare...
  6. Integra Type-S Expansion tank failure.

add me to this list! less than 1 yr old (bought in August '23, probably among first production run last year) and less than 1600 miles. will have to get around to installing the mishimoto tank that's been sitting in my garage earlier than i thought i would.
  7. installed Mishimoto expansion tank today

thanks for the video! i popped my hood today and noticed dried coolant around the seams on my expansion tank. my car was bought last August and just under 1600 miles. fortunately i already have the mishimoto tank sitting in my garage that i bought preemptively. but i had to run to the...
  8. Mesh to protect intercooler

I have the supplies bought for such a project, but haven;t gotten around to installing it. planning to do it when i have some time as it requires dropping the bumper and then i'll finally get around to putting the black front A-mark too. this post had some good info...
  9. The almost perfect roadtrip car (Miksfield's AB ITS)

how hard was it to remove the wheel arch/fender liners? are you planning to add sound deadening material to the doors at all? after watching some vides, i'm planning to add SoundSkin Pro material to the doors when i remove the door pocket cards to saw to RED LED lights. any thoughts on the...
  10. did my first oil change (and what i learned in the process)

i definitely start by hand tightening the filter first, then torque to spec. the side of oil filter says to torque between 10-14 newton-meters.
  11. did my first oil change (and what i learned in the process)

i guess i'm not strong enough! i only got more interested in doing my own auto work/maintenance in the last 5 years or so (after the unfounded fears/claims of expensive to maintain german cars). working from underneath the car on jackstands, one is constrained by the working room and possible...
  12. About to do first oil change

replying to some comments above regarding the merits of a break in or early oil change. i came across an interesting youtube video from the "Motor Oil Geek." he seems to have a professional background and expertise in oils and lubrication. essentially, he compares the first and second oil change...
  13. About to do first oil change

i just changed my oil last week too and did a write up here. but wow, that must be a newer harbor freight jack as i didn't know they made a "long reach" low profile jack. i only have a low profile Daytona, not long reach. so i had to use ramps to get it up. one more step in the process that can...
  14. did my first oil change (and what i learned in the process)

i know the topic of first oil change or break-in oil change is controversial. but an early oil change can't hurt. after nearly ten months of ownership, i only crossed 1,300 miles as i don't drive much and have other vehicles in rotation as well. i found myself with some free time last week and...
  15. Jack points and stands. for us Po' people

it may be in the full service manual online (paid access), but what/where are the front center and rear center jack points on the ITS (not jacking from the pinch welds as that would not allow subsequent placement of jack stands)? i'm just short of 1200 miles in 7 months and hoping to do a break...
  16. Exhaust tips scraping?

Here is a picture of the driveway/curb Actually, now that I remember, for our old Mini Countryman (R60 generation that was sold after we got the KIA), after installing a hitch , the hitch receiver underside would be very close to scraping too especially when loaded with our bike. So I added a...
  17. Exhaust tips scraping?

I usually pull out at in an angle (almost 45 deg) and take a wide turn. I'm on the left side of the driveway and usually make a right when I pull out, but today due to some road construction nearby I decided to make a left turn instead. However, I couldn't really angle and make a wide left due...
  18. Exhaust tips scraping?

Dreamshop only seems to list the whole exhaust and not just tips... And a sleeved option that goes over existing tips would only make the problem worse...
  19. Exhaust tips scraping?

I don't have a steep driveway, but I find that many/most driveways in this area (Bay Area, CA) have rolled curbs and many cars scrape. And this car is especially low! As careful as I try to take an angled approach, the plastic air dam/skirt underneath the front of my car has been scraping and...
