  1. QuickJack Question

For my QJ with the long extensions I use a set of magnetic pinch weld adapters that have the flat face along with some 1" aluminum stock which sits flush in the Quickjack extensions: plenty of space with stock height of the ITS. The short QJ rubber blocks are just a bit too tall, but the...
  2. First Oil Change @ 4775mi - Oil Analyzers Inc. Used Oil Anaysis Report

To be clear, from that sample it is thinner, its just on the low end of the grade at this point. which is 5.6-9.29 for a 20 grade. Most 0w20's will be in the low to mid 8's to start. Some fall faster then others as things break down. I suspect your higher then average dilution pushed it down a...
  3. First Oil Change @ 4775mi - Oil Analyzers Inc. Used Oil Anaysis Report

No, because the fuel is being dumped and a bang is going on (hence the pops). I have that on more then 80% of the time myself :)
  4. First Oil Change @ 4775mi - Oil Analyzers Inc. Used Oil Anaysis Report

The Honda type 2.0 is not sold in the US AFAIU. https://www.dream-automotive.com/products/genuine-honda-0w-20-type-2-0-synthetic-engine-oil-1-litre-type-r?srsltid=AfmBOorViI-8GyPgxpYcEdyUE8rXsl1dmGWwhKSA2vCHNXUzHxuM06UL Its appears to be a high moly Idemitsu blend based on VOA and UOA results...
  5. First Oil Change @ 4775mi - Oil Analyzers Inc. Used Oil Anaysis Report

How much is your short tripping? traffic and long Idling? any decent amount prior to the sample or oil change? I do a lot of HWY miles, my dilution on my first report was a bit under 2% from a 5K sample of M1 EP 0w20. I would not be too alarmed with that report as the oil's viscosity didn't...
  6. Oil Analysis at 5k (Blackstone Labs Report)

Adding mine in as I am starting to see how a good 20 holds up to to shearing along with dilution. Looks to me its still breaking in a bit with higher metals. Mag was flagged but I think that is a mistake as they think its M1 ESP vs M1 EP which I told them about (the emissions Euro oils have...
  7. Break-in oil?

Nah...unlike the current US race, there are more then two extremely qualified engine oils out there that will do great in our cars :P Oil geeks of course debate this, the only thing we can say with conviction is you won't hurt anything if you choose to change early as there is nothing helping...
  8. Break-in oil?

There have been times when more moly was in a factory fill, which arguably helps with engine break in as there is a little bit of wear over time. At this point, there seems to be nothing special about the factory fill as UOA shows no unusual moly levels. Factory fill is a 0w20 synthetic, that...
  9. Metal Flakes in Oil

did you also pull the filter and cut it open to inspect it? I'd put fresh oil in and get some UOA kits, and sample every 1K or 2K miles to get a few samples to establish if you see 1) abnormally high amounts of metal 2) what metals (if any) that may be a clue as to what they are sourced from...
  10. 1st oil change??

Interesting, had not heard about no filter (its $7, I would just spring for it) but in the manual code A is just oil technically. From other threads, the earliest a dealer seems to change it is at 15%. Me personally, I wrench on cars and have no problem changing O/F with for $40 or so every...
  11. Engine running rough after oil change at the dealership

They can put a 30, 40 or even 50 grade multi-viscosity in there...car would not run any differently, so rest assured fresh oil is doing its job and the car is not complaining :) Odds are its a 0w20 or possibly a 30.
  12. Regular Maintenance? Brake service and fluid flush already at 25K km?

I know sometimes the CAD can be looked at as being a tad weak but those numbers are all over the place :) Every 2y break fluid flush is a standard recommendation at so many places now (germans have done that in their guides for years, others picked up). Curious about the labor on the cabin...
  13. Soon to be New Owner of ITS - Question!

7K and chassis rattle free. My E90 went 200K, our E84 has a door/window rattle after 100K now I can't find so far. Its a lighter car, so the way BMW doors close and other things, the Honda build is not as solid feeling but it feels great when you are behind the wheel and a few hundred lbs...
  14. ITS Sport+ mode Pops & Bangs

With the newer turbo engines and noise regulations I wonder if Porsche had to dial back the volume. Our NA 981 Cayman GTS is borderline obnoxious with sport+ and PSE enabled: and glorious :) Type S is a puppy by comparison, just cute with its pop pop pop once in a while.
  15. ITS Sport+ mode Pops & Bangs

no issues, its just a bit of extra fuel that is injected off throttle, nothing mechanical or bad. Its relatively mild compared to sport mode on a Porsche in terms of poppin' :)
  16. 6 Speed Manual Transmission fluid service

    1. W != Weight, oils are grades 2. Gear oil rating numbers are different then motor oil, and depending on each oils cold/hot viscosities it may be close to a motor oil, however the add packs are much different Engine oil can be used in a pinch but should not be run long term. A VOA posted of...
  17. Lemon Law, might need some help?

Lemon Laws are complex and misunderstood by consumers. I'm not a lawyer to go through the nuances of it, but seems FL is there with 30 says but its not just 30 days, other things need to apply. But also 'a reasonable amount of attemps' so there's your US justice system with interpretive...
  18. Stocks and Options

Can't go wrong with pork bellies or better yet frozen concentrated OJ, if you have an insider with the crop report. Looking good, Billy Ray.
  19. DRL Tinting Legality

Great for you as the driver I guess. Maybe. Quite inconsiderate of anyone having to drive past you at night. Your eyes are used to a white light and are trying to see things...then along comes something that changes color, has less lumens, its distracting and at the extreme hurtful (not the...
