I have yet to see another ITS around here, on the road or parked.

The car thinks that because you opened then closed a rear door that you might forget something like a little kid back there. Just ignore it (unless you do have a small child).

Do you wait until the record lows are above 40* (which would be super conservative) or if not, how do you figure out when to switch back?

No issues with my ITS. Re: Frequency of fill ups - I used to refill the Impreza at 100 miles to go. With the ITS I find myself waiting until it's down to around 25-30 miles, at which point it takes about 10 gallons.

Bumping this thread to report that ever since the super-cold weather has passed my CC issue has not returned, so I'm concluding that it indeed was due to very low outside temps. I'm not sure why I'm the only one who had that problem.

I guess I've been lucky - I have a somewhat long driveway and get small rocks stuck in the tires quite often, but so far no horrible screeching.

Ask the dealership. My Subaru dealer showed me how to do it for my Impreza. For that car I had to insert and remove the seatbelt clip a bunch of times in a set period of time. That disabled the chime but had no other effect.

I'd want to be sure that the airbag still works.

It seems like my ITS CC doesn't engage if the temperature outside is below 10* F. Has anyone else up north had this issue? Also, a while back it disengaged on its own during a drive where the temp dropped from slightly above 10 deg to below 10, and would not reengage. I checked the manual and...

I've driven about 3400 miles in St. Louis with no front plate and (fingers crossed) no problems yet.

It's no big deal at all. At least not in MO. I bought my Subie from a dealer in Kansas, who shipped it to me on a transporter. The taxes and registration were not a problem. Edit: Also, the Kansas dealer put temp tags on it, so I was able to drive it right away. Good Luck

Lately I've been driving my ITS in all sorts of slush and snow - makes me wish I had kept my Impreza, but I only have a two car garage. Or I could have found a storage place for the Alfa. Well, too late now, the Subie is gone. :(
