Hi all,
About a few weeks ago I got my steering gearbox changed out and the noise from that has gone away. But I’m still hearing some creaking and did some testing when it occurs.
If I have the car in park, foot off brakes, and turn the steering wheel left or right there’s no noise.
If you place the car in drive/neutral and the parking brake is on (brakes not applied), no noise.
If you have in park, OR neutral/drive WITH the brake pedal pressed, you start to hear this croaking noise when turning the steering wheel and a little bit after when letting go of the brakes and it disengaging (see video). I usually notice this when backing up into a parking spot due to using my brakes to slow it down a bit.
I took it to the dealership and they’re saying it’s “normal” and happens on all vehicles “due to direction steering wheel is attempting to turn when vehicle is stationary”.
Can someone please test this on their Teggy and tell me if I’m crazy or not. I have a gut feeling this isn’t normal behavior and not everyone has this noise happening.
