Just got this from Black Hawk Japan and figured I would leave a little info/first impression for anyone considering getting one of these…
I primarily ordered this with the intention of securing my subwoofer box to it, whenever I get around to installing it. I’m not expecting any improvement in handling on the street being that the chassis is so well built and only 2 years old, but I figured this will reduce stress on welds and possibly prevent or mitigate creaking down the road. This is advertised as being an FL5 part, but I know PRL’s rear bar fits both cars so I went with it, although I’m now wishing I bought the PRL offering and here’s why…
This looks like a typical mass produced item, identical to the Tanabe strut bar I had on my RSX. I’m a JDM whore and remember the early 2000’s when J’s racing was known for quality parts. Looking at recent forum posts on various Honda sites and Reddit, it seems like quality has been declining for a while, and I even saw one person mention that they’re just a label, not an r&d company. After paying $116 for import fees on top of $270 for the cost plus shipping, I cant say I recommend this to anyone. I’ll probably Install it this weekend and will update this with any potential changes. Also, it took 3 months to ship
lol. First photo is the top of the bar, second is the bottom of the bar.
