I was under the impression that so long as the clutch was fully engaged it didn’t matter what gear I was in as it’s essentially neutral? This is my first manual car. Is the thud having to do with the reverse lockout or am I forcing it into gear despite the clutch being engaged?

Wow kind of a ridiculous design. Is there a way to enable the parking break to turn on whenever I shut the car off? Seems crazy that the car won’t even warn me when it’s in neutral with the e brake off.

How do I enable brake hold automatically? I have to flip the switch on every time I start the car.
