This is my first run with Akebono Ceramic so I'm not sure if their compounds are vastly difference between different makes. However, I noticed the front pads are actually from their "performance ceramic" line. They also seem to have a standard ceramic line that is for regular street use (the...
Based on all the incentives I'm seeing for Hondas and some lower prices on existing Acura models I think the market is starting to cool off.
MSRP and no-addons should be quite doable. I bought mine at flat MSRP and only had one added fee, which was a ridiculous (IMO) $559 doc fee. This was...
Man that looks really sharp! The gloss black wheels match up with the car really nicely. I love the Black with the red interior combo too. The Type S looks sooooo good in black.
Thanks for taking the time to video and show the results. I think we need to do the pedal dance before the dyno, just like the FL5 guys? If we just press and hold the VSA button, that won't fully disable traction control.
Here's a link showing how to put the car in full traction off mode (AKA...
Here's a visual of the difference.

Personally, I'd be okay with a 1 or 2 percent change in speedo. But close to 4% is getting...
I also had DWS06+ fitted yesterday on the stock wheels in the stock tire size (265/30/19). They are a little quieter on the highway vs the PS4S, which I think are noisy. I haven't done any hard driving to find the traction differences. I'm sure the grip levels in warm, dry conditions will be...
A lot of this is just personal preference. I think on a stock suspension height, the 18x9.5 +45 setup looks the best. For me, the +38 has too much poke. In all cases looking at either the +45 or the +38 with a side view down the car, a full 1/3 of the sidewall is now visible and looks like it...
FYI I just found this thread with a quick search. The fitment should be identical for our cars and we share the same brake package.

I use this site to help visualize what a change in wheel size and offset will look like: https://www.willtheyfit.com/index.php?width=265&aspect=30&diameter=19&wheelwidth=9.5&offset=60&width2=255&aspect2=35&wheel_size=18&wheel_width=9.5&offset2=45
I know the Enkei TS-5 in 18x9.5 +45 is used...
Thank you! That's the kind of feedback and detail I was looking for. I've been looking at every +45 offset picture I can find on FL5/DE5 cars and I have to admit, even with the OEM rock guards it does look like there will be more sling down the side of the car. I know a few other members said it...
The 2023 Civic Type R has the same wheel/tire size as the DE5 ITS. If you're building a wheel/tire package this won't be optimal because the Civic doesn't use in-wheel TPMS. However, if you're just shopping for tires in the OE size it'll be a direct match.
Completely agree on the forged OEM wheels from the FL5. The only reason I haven't bought a set is the Type R etching. If it was just a sticker, I'd go for it and just carefully remove it but the laser etching is a bit more permanent.
I'm bummed we can't find more 18 inch wheels in the 50-55...
If you don't mind, could you give more detail here on what you did not like? I've been eyeing a set of 18x9.5 +45s but I have held off due to reading about scrub radius years ago on FK8s and knowing it also impacts FL5/DE5 platforms as well.
I think its important to nail down what "better" would be. For me, its definitely better because they have very similar initial bite to the OEM pads and they don't shed dust like crazy.
However, the OEM pads are quite robust for high heat, high load applications like track days.
I did a few...
I think the issue with most of the ceramic and coating marketing is that the claims don't match the care regimen to get the life out of the product.
The products are advertised as "set and forget" and this sucks a lot of people in with the idea that they can just go to a drive thru carwash and...
I'm plagued with car detailing OCD and one of the things that quickly bothered me with the Type S was the copious amounts of brake dust that the stock brakes put off. The wheels were caked with the stuff after just 50 miles of standard pace city driving, not even pushing the car.
Based on what...
Facebook marketplace seems like the go-to these days. There's also a classified section here where people have listed their takeoffs for sale as well. I'd be interested if we were closer but Charlotte is too much of a drive. :)
Great info! Interesting to see that stuff.
I wonder if this means some of the Type S variables (leaner AFR, timing, torque limits) aren't being carried over to the FL5 custom tunes? Or perhaps the exhaust difference in the Type S is actually more impactful than initially thought?
