I'm new to modern Japanese cars, but also have noted the exact same problem as you have described. When shifting during aggressive acceleration, the engine will over-rev (they call it rev-hang). I was worried about this, having experienced it once on another Japanese car, and again when test...
Use a Dremel tool with a small cut-off disc to cut a horizontal slot in the buggered screw head (so it will fit a conventional flat-blade screwdriver). Once you get the screw out, replace it with a factory part. You probably caused the problem by using a Philips head screwdriver instead of a...
Yea - I figured that might be the case. Will ask them tomorrow when taking delivery.
Oh well, have been changing my own oil all my life, so nothing new.
You really need to be careful about aftermarket wheels. While there might be some - unlike other parts of the World - I'm unaware of any USA government wheel safety standards (there may be, but not that I'm familiar with). You might want to review this article...
Makes me wonder ...... how many valets can drive a manual??
Years ago, after a nice dinner - a friend had his Saab totalled in a parking garage by the valet bringing back his car. Even a "valet mode" may not have saved that one!
Not sure I understand ..... how do the front and rear mud flaps attach to the car?
Do they require drilling / fastening into metal pieces of the car?
Or do they just screw into plastic?
It's an important difference from a rust / corrosion standpoint.
Thanks - very interesting information on operating with UHP Summer tires. But I still wonder if damage will result from storing the tires (on the vehicle, or not) at below 0°F or colder? I've had track tires that must be kept warmer / prevented from freezing (over winter) - so they can't be...
This is probably in the owner's manual, but I've not yet taken delivery of my car.
What is the minimum storage temperature of the "summer" tires used on the Type S?
Must they be kept above freezing (which is a common requirement for many track tires)?
I'm assuming (for liability reasons) they...
Don't know about Honda's (still waiting for my Type S) -- but when opening the drivers door my VW GTI, the fuel pump will run for a couple of seconds to pressurize the fuel rail in anticipation of the car being started. Would suspect that's a normal feature for many cars.
This is the dumbest thread I read in a long time!
Either wear your seat belt, or get a set of earplugs.
And not wearing your belt will probably prevent the airbags from deploying - the entire vehicle safety system is coordinated:

Thanks - that's good to know. Having driven manuals for most of my life, I'll also get used to the clutch take up point. That said, I'm more worried about the goofy "rev-hang" problem I've noted in some Japan cars. Others have noted it's not as bad on the Type S versus the A-Spec, but still...
Given the wait lists still in place around the country, I wonder if the car (with all accessories) would be worth a lot more via private sale, versus turning it back to the Dealer? Of course, there is considerable sales tax difference to be factored in.
Common practice for all race engines. Basically, you are visually looking for tiny bits of bad stuff - like bearing material or other "metal" deposits. You always hope to find nothing but oil. Oh - there are tools (with a cutting disk, not unlike a large copper tubing cutter) for opening up...
I saw a white ITS with red interior at a dealership. For me, the front looked OK and I could live with it - but the all red back area was too much. Still in line, but pretty sure I'll wait for all black interior. Am having more trouble deciding on exterior color. My present GTI is white...
I've got a feeling that rev-hang behavior is going to seriously suck. Hopefully, it will also turn off along with the "rev-match" disable setting (at least I assume it can be turned off).
That's good to know - thanks!
Anyone know if the clutch engagement point is adjustable?
Actually, I was more worried about "rev hang". Drove a Japanese car years ago that was absolutely terrible.
