Definitely get a second opinion. If for some reason they really are messed up, I would definitely go with something aftermarket, both rotors and pads, and I would get someone other than the dealer to do the work as well. That quote is way too expensive.

Maybe the car was at 5500 rpm already, then was downshifted? this would likely cause it to exceed redline. Maybe 1st instead of third was selected next? Assuming the car was in second at the time of said speed/rpm?

Well, we already know this car is super sensitive to losing pops and bangs and rev match anyway.... Essentially, when you start messing with stuff, things tend to come up. At least if you're tuned you can easily make adjustments.

Hybrid Racing shifter installed! Love, love, love it! Very aggressive. went with the most aggressive throw option and the least aggressive gate option. Still very snappy. Install wasn't bad other than getting all the wires un-clipped behind the center console. Big bang for buck.
