The hard top convertible Del Sol was pretty cool.
Friends GF had a Del Sol, it was actually a fun car with how small it was, just a bit heavy, it felt like it was trying to be a 2 door, open top Civic with a more upscale, almost Acura feel to it, but just didn't go all the way, nor was it...
Many pre productions still get VINs. Sometimes they even end up accidentally for sale. There are a few PP BOSS and Shelby Mustangs running round in peoples collections. In fact there is a single red Bullitt in existence that was a test mule and somehow ended up for sale.
Close if I'm just rolling along I get about 30-32. I'd do a lot better on average if my work wasn't in a VERY hilly area. In my old 2.5L Altima with CVT it would regularly get over 40 average, sometimes it would get near 50 if I could draft behind a truck.
In reality these modern turbos are...
If I'm buying Type-S I don't care about MPG or fuel costs. If I did, I'd be getting a base CVT. That's why it exists. In the TLX it's rated 24/21/29 and the Accord is 26/22/32, that's barely a change and the fact the TLX is almost 600lbs more is definitely a chunk of that difference.
Who cares...
To be fair I don't think most people getting an entry level Luxury car are the type of "enthusiast" to care about what the auto transmission is, let alone what CVT/DSG/ect even mean. Buyers that are more likely to opt for the S, M, AMG or Type-S version are usually intended for Performance...
The Cadillac still sells for MSRP due to it being refreshed, but the Infiniti Red Sport can be had fully loaded out the door new for 50K. I know because that literally what I paid for mine in 2018 and others were managing to get them for high 40's.
Yes, and the car being the worst performance while giving me NOTHING I find of value to make up for that out of all its competition is my reason. If it were 252 with manual and AWD then I'd have reason to try and make arguments over the WRX and Mazda 3 for it. But just 252hp, FWD for 40K? That...
I'm well known for hating VW reliability. I'd easily take the VW if the difference is saving 5k and having an available manual, or spending 3k more to get AWD and 63HP more, also with a manual.
If I'm gonna spend 40k on a car I'm not gonna randomly compromise just because I like the name. At...
Because If I'm going to get a car in the entry level luxury market I want it to be fun and competitive in that market. other wise why get it over anything else? If its not going to be any quicker or nicer than a much cheaper Mazda 3 turbo, why not just get that? If it's going to be more a direct...
Type-S is a PERFORMANCE line, so yes good performance is expected.
Q50 Red Stort 400HP
Lincoln MKZ 400HP
Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing 472hp
Also, entry level luxury with 400HP+ In the first 2 cases, much cheaper than the TLX Type-S.
In the rest of its class the BMW and Audi both handle much better...
I think the main reason it will be under 40 is going to be due to them using the 272hp 2.0t. MAYBE they will give it a tweaked tune, for a little more power, but that's really what I'm expecting despite HOPING for the now "old" 306HP 2.0T.
I blame the existence of this on people wanting a quiet ride but also wanting to hear the engine because they associate that with being fast. You can't do that without having either fake exhaust sound or somehow routing a sound tube into the cabin. Both suck.
To me anything short of the 272HP 2.0t would be a disaster as it would be destroyed by its direct and cheaper competition. Also the 272 would be so predictable it may disapoint.
