Do you have a source on that? That's some pretty cool technical info that I wouldn't expect a non-exotic auto manufacturer to share. Would love to read more engineering stuff like that, I remember they released a huge info packet with the FL5 that was pretty cool.
Agreed, but thereās def a subset of buyers who might just want a sporty sedan. Also in my experience, most salesmen donāt know enough about the car for them to be able to defend against āwhy would I pay 20k more for a car thatās āinferiorā on all the specs on the spec sheet?ā
Markups would also be weird because the TLX Type S exists. Like āyou can have this front wheel drive, 4 cylinder 4 seater sedan for 70k, orrrr hereās an AWD, V6 twin turbo 5 seater sedan for 55k!ā
As excited as this forum is, folks on this forum donāt seem as willing to pay a markup as the FL5 folks did before the FL5 launched. That dealer is just gonna have to let that car sit for like a month before they decide to lower the markup lol.
Looks great! I'm honestly a little disappointed with the red interior option on the Integra Type S. Was originally thinking I'd do a monochrome exterior color with red interior, but now that I'm leaning towards the black interior, I figure I might as well consider a bolder exterior color like...
Red is high on my list too. How does it usually look compared to your profile picture? I like the shade of red on there, but I'm worried it could look more bright and washed out in the sunlight. If Acura's red was more like Mazda's red, I would choose it in a heartbeat.
Mark from Savagegeese said on the CivicXI forums that media is doing first drives in May and releasing content in June (assuming that means media embargo ends in June).
My theory is they sensed the frustration around the low FL5 availability and knew they had to get a car to market fast to fill that demand. Now they probably could have waited another year to polish this car even further amidst supply chain shortages and time constraints, but getting this car to...
Honda did
It's possible they rushed this to market and ended up using a lot of Type R parts (hence the lack of USB ports, etc). Maybe a year or two of time will let them better differentiate. Another possibility is that they cut a lot of these things like rear USB and memory seats due to supply...
With regards to the power memory seat, it's possible that the electronics from the base car might not have worked with just one power seat instead of two, so they just left it out of the prototype. Maybe they'll work on getting that figured out and either put it in the production car or the 2025...
Yup, but a lot of the panels are different (e.g. rear quarters, roof, etc). It also looks like part of the chassis (below the trunk), has been swapped out compared to the base car, so I'm very curious as to how all these design changes affect the chassis characteristics.
For what it's worth, when the GR Corolla launched, a ton of stuff changed from the prototype demo cars to the production cars. They didn't even have the same gauges or headlights. Of course the GRC had a longer wait after the launch and before cars were available for purchase, but it's still...
I'm curious to find out details about chassis torsional rigidity compared to the FL5. I'm not sure if the FL5 has been stiffened but from the base civic, but I remember Acura claiming the base Integra was 2 percent stiffer than the Civic sedan. If it turns out the Integra is a less rigid chassis...
