Probably grabbing some Mcgard splinedrives... figured I'd post here to see if anyone has "strong" feedback in support of another option?
Project Kics seem to be popular, as do options from Atomic.
Yep -- this is why I love NA motors... consistent torque with linear power gains / rpm just feels so good (and throttle response / induction note, etc.).
My thought is -- as someone who's just considering a change in character / power delivery and not chasing big #s -- if I was to trim the low...
I'd just like to flatten the torque curve a bit. I know it won't ever approach the nice flat curve you get on an NA motor, but the steep falloff just makes me want to gauge my eyes out every time I see a dyno graph 🤣
I should clarify: I'm not really serious about this... just kind of...
I know it works out nicely on the street, but I'm "ideologically opposed" to these small turbo torque curves that peak so high so early and fall off so hard 🤣
I'm considering a turbo upgrade in the future -- probably just something moderate like the MHI upgrade -- and it feels bad / wasteful...
They all allow for 2 pedal driving, don't they? At least the Rivian / Audi? I was under the impression the Porsche does (in fact only Tesla forces 1 pedal)?
And, this is where I think performance EVs start to make more sense (assuming charging is available in your area). At this price point, new and used EVs with similar weight and better performance are available. A similarly-priced Taycan (4S) actually weighs LESS than the new RS5 and will have...
In my experience, Supra visibility is worse than an S2k hardtop or an SS. I can't speak to the FJ or Murano comparisons.
And, I agree: most of us are more than willing to overlook a vehicle's flaws in appreciation for their assets (in fact, I'd argue that their flaws are often the things that...
Are you sure you've owned worse? I thought the same thing until I drove one. The top of the windshield was nearly below my eye level, lmao (roof has "scoops" to create head room).
As good as it looks on the outside, the view from the inside is terrible. The visibility is horrifically bad. Not just blindspots and peripherals, etc. -- even straight ahead. I love small cars, but I felt very uncomfortable driving the Supra. It was like peering out of a bunker, and I did not...
I had a rattle I thought was coming from there at a similar RPM... it was actually from one of the AC duct pieces in the center console (rattle sound presumeably made its way through the AC ducting and presented as if it was coming from the passenger side dash). Item #2:
It is (rather poorly)...
4 door fwd sedan + 2 door rwd coupe seems like a very reasonable garage to me 🤣
I will also say, $200 of kilmat, aggfoam, and a little felt tape really does wonders for the feel / ambiance of the car. Hitting the doors, hatch, and some of the interior panels solves a lot of cabin noise, hollow...
I have not. My car is on stock suspension at the moment. I love the appearance of the car lowered, but I'm of the opinion that the suspension geometry on this car is one of its strongest assets (if not the strongest). The more I go down the hypothetical rabbit-hole of lowering the car and...
@derbo904
My understanding (maybe @Maya@DSC can confirm) is that the DSC module can be used as an EDC canceller if you decide to move to coils later, so if you want to leave Ohlins "on the table", just picking up a DSC isn't "incompatible" with that path in the future. (A canceller kit is...
If I was going to lower, and attempt to do it right (as looks to be the case with your two potential plans), I'd also attempt to correct for roll center changes / bump steer up front.
Spoon and Ktuned have kits -- might be some others out there, too.
I believe the Spoon is a 4mm adjustment...
I am with you on the rods being a weak point (and needing to be mindful re: when you request torque with the stock turbo), but even the MHI stage 2 you referenced (which is, to my knowledge, the smallest aftermarket option for this platform) won't start to spool until between 3.5k and 4k rpm...
Not trying different things is 😭
...Honda has also sold all of two (three if you count the NC1) interesting platforms here in the last ~ two decades (and from the looks of it, they won't have another) 🤣
