This is the short version ($85). I installed this because the metal on the stock knob was making my hand cold (I know, I'm a baby), also for the classic looks and the feel of the leather.
The way I installed it, it sits lower on the shifter shaft and shortens the throws a bit. It can be installed higher as well. In order to get it as low as possible, I removed the 14mm lock nut entirely as it is not needed for the Momo knob, which uses a rubber cap for the shaft and hidden set screws in the knob. I modified the rubber cap so I could slide it further down on the shaft, again to get the shift knob as low as possible.
I found it difficult to separate the chrome ring at the top of the boot from the 14mm locking nut and ended up pulling the fabric off of the ring accidentally. I did not re-install the ring.
The top of the boot fits nicely around the base of the shift knob. I may affix it in the future somehow but will leave it for a while and see how I like it.
