Hey guys, I’m thinking on finally upgrading my car and get some more power to the wheels. What do yall recommend (brands, and best fit) to get to around 450hp? I already got intake and turbo inlet.
Thanks.

Tune. Turbo swap if you don’t want to run e85. You’ll want to upgrade the fueling tho. There’s a few turbos that’ll get you there.

if you’re ok with e85. You can get close with every bolt on and tune on stock turbo. But for the sake of running straight e85 you’ll want to upgrade the fueling.
If you can speak Spanish. Call red star in Puerto Rico

I lose traction when i hammer it in 2nd gear with the stock 320hp. What benefit does 450+ hp in a FWD car give you except more broken car parts and more tire purchases?

Totally get this. Tq reduction per gear is a thing tho bro. You reduce power and make yourself slower and that makes you faster since you won’t be spinning

I have a custom tune. Went for massive reduction in first and second. Made sure to keep max tq to something reasonable. Car does well on canyons. Very well.

compared to the stock tune, my car is way more composed during high g turns. I hardly ever have to modulate the gas unless it’s a long sweeper and I’m in third gear.

yeah... I used to think the same way. I also realize that a good tune "tunes around it", but it still turned me off for a long time.

But then here's the thing- I kept losing to cars with more power. So now I respect the hustle.

That video I posted above just sealed the deal for me.

But also it's important to note that just strapping on more power without supporting mods isn't the way. But... then you're upwards of $100k like the guy in that video.

You can also just modulate throttle input in low gears, lmao. It's not a light switch... Plenty of fun cars -- regardless of drivetrain layout, driven wheels, etc. -- will shred the tires if you hammer it in 2nd.

Throttle input mapping is also tuneable. So, if you're irritated that it changes based on drive mode (and would prefer that setting to adjust exhaust valve behavior only) or you want a less sensitive pedal in Sport+, that can be adjusted, as well.

I’m a brokie who shoulda kept his Si and Accord. I’m keeping the ITS stock/OEM+ for a long time. Turning the traction control partially off with the button helps keep it from cutting power when I hammer it in 2nd.

It was nice being able to use every ounce of power the Si had without any worry of getting myself in any trouble. Si has insane value as a fun commuter.

True story.

When you compare power to weight things start to normalize a bit, but yeah, more power can obviously win a lot and then you play the supporting mods game.

It happens all the time with those new to track work. It often goes in cycles and rarely addresses the root issues of balance as you go faster. It's hard to make a fast car, and honestly that's why Porsche, m cars, and corvettes are the pinnacle of that type of performance. They've already done the hard engineering to balance it, but also at the extent of mostly gamifying the experience to keep normal Joe's from killing themselves.

There's always that one guy in a supercar ready to out drive us all while sipping on an espresso and wearing vintage driving gloves.

Driving a fast car fast fucking terrifies me. I have no idea how people have the balls to grab a sting ray. The absolute slowest c8, which is still fast as hell. And go absolutely flat out

couldn’t be me bro. Gimme a Subaru with a blown headgasket on one side and a leaky headgasket on the other side.

... Honestly... You just get used to it.

Don't get me wrong, a person with little on the edge experience will easily find more power than talent in any fast car.

A person with legitimate experience will see a miata and a Ferrari as the same experience but one with just much faster input requirements.

Pass bro. This is why I liked the v6 emira over the 911 and z06. The vette and Porsche terrified me. You blink once are you’re instantly in triple digit speeds. Screw that.

IDK, a 911 feels like a dance partner on track. Especially with PDK.

No I drove the slow rwd one with a manual. Which was still fast as hell 😂

didn’t push it that hard. Barely had to before I noticed how fast it was going. I don’t doubt you tho
