FWIW, this is one of those issues that'd make me very wary of driving the car. I could tolerate things like a bad window motor or even a hole in the tailpipe, but a problem with the steering can turn into what they'd call a "significant safety event" when it goes bad.
(longtime Honda owner here, lurking and catching up on this issue since we got my wife a ‘24 CRV)
Much thanks for the link. Next week I’ll ask our sales friend at the dealership if he’s heard anything from the service side.
I know, right? The reason I’m even considering this upmarket segment are because of markups on Civics, which then made me think, Well shit, for over forty grand I might as well look at BMW or Audi…. Then I came to my senses and remembered Acura.
And yeah, if my Civic actually sucked in any...
Oh yeah — did they have to bring it from Pohanka in Chantilly? The salesman I was talking to, Larry, said that he made the drive to bring an Integra just in the past week or two. He took the long way around on the return leg — up thru Leesburg, then Frederick, then straight on I-70.
Yessir. Closest dealer to me and no markup games. I might also swing by the Laurel store, and I might have an "in" at Pohanka thanks to a friend. We'll see if anyone's willing to deal this weekend.
I'm leaning heavily towards the TLX, honestly. It's about time I get a nice, comfortable...
Yeah, I’m spoiled now (so’s my wife). Heated seats and other luxuries are things that we don’t want to give up anymore.
I did some more poking around and learned that the trunk space in the TLX is pretty good even compared with the Integra. I should take my tuba along to the dealer and see it...
Test-drove a TLX A-Spec over the weekend, really liked it, but I didn't have immediate plans to buy anything. Then my wife says, since the used market is cooling off and my '17 Civic's value will drop (back to normal, really), if I want a new car, I should hurry up.
(not interested in a manual...
I’m fine with it defaulting to Off. It’s a new behavior that’ll throw people off if they’re expecting a normal driving experience.
I use Brake Hold a lot in areas with moderate-to-zero traffic and lots of stoplights. It’s great when you’re waiting at a long light. It’s just a convenience...
The way my FK7’s CVT is programmed, S mode — after clicking a paddle shifter to put it into 7-speed mode — will auto-shift more frequently than either D or S modes left to “fake shift” on their own. It feels like the motor spends more time in the torque peak, then, when it’s automatically...
I'm kinda nervous about taking a car without built-in nav on a long trip ever since I took a rental to the Washington coast. I lost cell signal but didn't realize it until I got to my hotel. I had declined paying for a portable Garmin at the car rental place, so I thought I was SOL...
Likely true for me, too. I'll either hang onto my Civic for another five years-plus or get my last ICE. Very eager to see what the Honda-Sony partnership comes up with in 2025. I'm also crossing my fingers that Tesla gets forced to open up their Supercharger network to non-Teslas here in the USA.
I did, but just once so far. I rented a car in Seattle and drove out to the Washington coast, and we ended up out of AT&T cell range. If I had ponied up for a portable Garmin GPS, I would've been fine. I'm lucky that my phone downloaded the route back to Seattle using our hotel's wifi.
