I used penetrating oil and heat, and the nuts still seized to the studs and snapped one off, and took the threads off the other. Pure luck IMO, as the car only had about 1500 miles on it or so. I ended up taking my exhaust housing off and had a machine shop drill out the trash studs for $350...
I just drove the SHIT out of my car on some back roads. Trust me, I may be on a thread about shifter upgrades and spend a lot of time thinking about mods but I'm also slapping the shifter off the Type S surround like you wouldn't believe a few times a week.
Drive and mod your cars folks 😎
I did the Acuity stage 2 shift kit prior to the bushings, and the cable bushings had ZERO noticeable impact in comparison to the rest of the kit. It would be interesting to see if doing the bushings first provided some obvious improvement, but it was nothing for me. Overall, I love the stage 2...
The PRL intercooler does a better job as an intercooler than the OEM unit in terms of IATs and maintaining stock or modified power levels. The stock unit heat soaks faster and has worse heat-soaked steady state performance. This is aside from engine cooling performance, which is a separate issue...
I would recommend getting a spreader tool like @SKINNIE said, like I would REALLY recommend doing that because it was easily the worst part about the install. It's not difficult to get the strut moving in the knuckle, but to get it out completely was a nightmare for my car. It is somewhat...
There is a plastic piece under the stock intercooler that needs to be removed, if that is what you're talking about. Where it says remove 3rd clip that whole plastic piece has to come out since the IC is much bigger. (this is from my RSplitters instructions so it's unrelated).
I would say...
For me the images aren't showing up, just the file names seemingly. Glad you got everything installed though! I went back and checked my clamps a few times before putting the bumper back on because I was really trying to avoid boost leaks 😅
This thread reminded me of a post I saw a while back from the "Honda Type R Product Reviews" FB page. It's a private group I think, so I can't really post a useful link to it, but they posted some interesting data from their test car with an RV660 running like 500whp+ with different...
I'm not making any assumptions about intercooler sizing. My entire argument is based on observations of my IATs and what PRL showed. PRL showed that with their IC, the heat soaked IC outlet temps were lower than the stock IC, while that testing day had warmer ambient temps.
Not an automotive...
I would argue that aftermarket ICs could lead to higher coolant/oil temps because of the lower IATs that allow the car to maintain higher power levels for extended durations. I know the main concern is the IC reducing the cooling efficiency to the radiator, but I think the additional power could...
I did what they did and it worked great. Semi-carefully just pull on each part, slide your hand closer to the next part to release and repeat. I was able to get my hand behind the bumper to push as well after getting the sides to release. You should probably mask off the headlights or at least a...
You might wanna watch a few videos on bumper removal/IC install for this car just so you know what's up. The video from @koatic was helpful, he shows there's a clip in the engine bay you need to make sure you don't miss before actually trying to pull the bumper off. Very minor thing but there's...
There is a simple reason to get an aftermarket intercooler and it's for lower IATs. You can see your IAT temps with an OBD reader. I've been observing my IATs for months on the back roads between pulls and once things are heat soaked, and the PRL intercooler has lowered my max IAT2 delta from...
I personally would NOT take the mat out to clean them. They're incredibly easy to vacuum in the car, spray interior cleaner on them, wipe, and you're done. Way more so than even stock rubber mats that come in most cars including the DE5 ones. I have them in some RAV4s in my family fleet as well...
Just saw someone on IG lose oil pressure and blow up their GR Corolla running 0W-20 on track with seemingly no other cause. Also 20 grade viscosities at track temps are going to be like running a 16 grade or lower at street temps so that just seems like a terrible idea. Oil film thickness to...
0W-20 in 90 degree weather on track is insane imo. The viscosity at the oil temps your likely hitting has to be pretty low. Feels like asking for trouble not using something at least 30 grade on track in hot weather for a *0W-20 spec* car.
Considering getting some 200TW tires like the Rt660...
FL5 and DE5 pads are the same as with most mechanical parts of the car. I think these pads are easily worth the money given my experience with them so far as well as on my brothers car. If you need them quickly then they're probably not the option because its going to be 1-2 months depending on...
