I'm no stranger to doing my own work, although I admit I kind of swore it off years ago but I also think that replacing rear brakes at 15k miles at some of the exorbitant prices a dealer would charge is offensive enough to get me to pick up a wrench again. My rear brakes are approaching terminal...
Not surprising. It's a completely separate team responsible for the DE5.
Could be there are no updates. Could be some significant updates are incoming. Most likely? Production will be announced to end after MY26, and there's about a 60% chance we'll get a "farewell" model, like an HRC or god...
This is my single biggest concern with considering an aftermarket intercooler. There are plenty of examples on the Civic forums of people overheating in track settings with the PRL in particular... and I'm pretty sure I recall @Zygrene overheated on his first track day after the intercooler...
Well damn. I mean, everything you describe here is pretty much what had me convinced a few weeks ago that I need to find a way to get one ASAP... but I saw a couple YouTube videos that insist that the lack of dealer network and possibility the Hethel factory they just beefed up for Emira...
I understand about the "exotic/cars and coffee" car vs the "practical but fun in the twisties" dichotomy, and prioritizing they both be capable of being daily drivers. The DE5 has become entrenched in my possession, and has entered firmly into the "cold dead hands" category. I don't even think...
We need a thumbs down reaction button.
This noise drove me nuts for the first few months of ownership. I've gotten used to it but it's not like it ever went away... I would not get my hopes up for any dealership tech to resolve this. My thoughts are someone is going to have to get creative...
All these HRC parts have been teased to go into production, but nobody knows when or what exact form that will take.
My guess is that we're going to get an extremely limited run of HRC Integras... possibly branded as the Type R. It's feasible we'll be able to buy the parts individually as well...
This is good context, so now you have to cut me a break from the other end of the spectrum. I've been on forums lots. It's highly uncommon for people to double-quote a post and leave a thank you without being sarcastic.
Thank you for your service. Navy vet here.
None of this makes sense. "Stiffer side wall"? The difference of DWS06+ vs A/S4 is not that extreme to justify deviating from the OEM sizes. I've had both on several cars and couldn't tell the difference one way or the other. They're still all-seasons. You're not setting any lap records...
That is fair. "If it's broke, upgrade it" is a valid approach. I have some remnant questions on the events that led to your intercooler sustaining such irreversible damage but that's neither here nor there.
Still wondering why an intercooler is still top of the list of desired (or mandated)...
Quick question-
Why?
More specifically, what specific benefit are you looking to gain by replacing the OEM intercooler?
So far I've seen something about throttle response... and weight, which the PRL is a net-negative... it could be viewed as a gate to "reliable" 500 horsepower... and maybe...
I'm kinda with @Victorofhavoc on this. I don't fully understand why people just assume the part will fail, WITHOUT some sort of class-action if it's been happening since the FK8.
Idk I think the gloss would look best in your setup but contrast isn't a bad thing either. Either way I've always just sort of been turned off with the PRL design. I know they have a CF option now but still- ID is just more elegant IMO.
The big question is the inlet tube. I don't hate the way...
So I can't necessarily comment on what it sounds like vs the PRL, because I haven't heard the PRL. But I have the ID intake and inlet tube, and think it sounds fantastic.
I had some inflated expectations when I installed it of having a B18C-style "honk" but that's just not practical with this...
Yeah I'm crossing posts- I was just shocked that the front rotors on my Macan are $4200 (on sale); I had posted earlier that I paid $1300 including labor for rear brakes on my son's Civic- which is also more than I expected. Your comment about Porsche ownership sent me down the path of the...
