As was previously mentioned, they are real, they lead to the air curtains in the front wheel wells. The intakes are oversized for their purpose but that's ok. I think Honda learned their lesson from the tenth gen Civic HB/CTR and so there is likely a mandatory "NO FAKE VENTS" order in place.
