Something interesting about these pictures is it looks like the flares are a blend of molded and tacked on. On the rear quarter panel and door it looks like the flares are stuck on, but on the rear bumper it looks like towards the bottom they blend into the bumper. Same thing with the front...
The ads that Acura has been making for the Integra also really suggest that they're trying to position Acura as a youthful enthusiast brand, and the best way to completely ruin that positioning is limit ITS production enough that young people can't get their hands on them or can't afford the...
For what it's worth, Honda showed the FL5 uncamoflauged in July last year, and then revealed pricing in October. So a March reveal of the car without pricing could line up well with a summer launch.
A decent number of people have already received them. Also I believe Toyota has said they're planning to 8000 GRCs in the US each year, meanwhile Honda has only sent about 1000 Type Rs to the US since launch.
I don't understand Honda's marketing strategies. They announce a vehicle is coming (in camo) and essentially stay silent for 6+ months on details. I think Toyota nailed it with the GRC's marketing. Lots of tiny easter eggs, but then they announced the car outright with lots of media publicity...
She's definitely going to be in a Type S. Acura only ran 1 Integra last year, when the car launched. It would be weird for them to run 3 this year unless it was to promo the Type S. I wonder if they'll be different "stages" of modified? Like one close to stock car, and one with the crazy aero...
Yup, Loni posted a video of her doing a ride-along in the Type S. And perhaps the vehicle year listed in the sheet is year of production rather than model year?
They did pre-orders for the base Integra too right? I assume for the Type S they'll do pre-orders for the first set, and then start to sell them at dealers shortly after, like they did with the base Integra.
The upsell strategy works especially well with the manual-only. People hear hype about the ITS, go in to check it out, find out its a manual only, and end up leaving with a TLX Type S for a few grand more.
The red cartoon Type S from the Acura ad a few weeks ago has the number 93, so Loni's car could be the red car from that ad (it's 92 but that's pretty close lol).
True, but they showed the production Type R without camo in July, and then did the official unveiling in December. We'll see if Acura does the same. Seeing by how they've already "leaked" the Type S in that ad, maybe there will be a steady stream of teasers till the summer.
