  1. "Crunchiness" in all gears - normal or not?

There is a placebo effect in the car community: aftermarket better. Honda MTF is like aspirin: it just works. Very well. Been using it since the 90s and the usual suspects on the street didn't change anything (heavier ones can make cold shifting worse). The transmission itself is excellent...
  2. Is an Extended Warranty Worth It on a 2023 Acura Integra?

These are 100% Honda service contracts, you can buy one up until the factory expires. I dont have any saved from 2 years ago, but the different plans and cost/co pays were sent back in a simple table. I sent 5 or so emails to known online companies, waited for responses. I got rec's from...
  3. Is an Extended Warranty Worth It on a 2023 Acura Integra?

I priced shopped a few online Honda dealers who deal with volume, you shoot them your VIN. Remember I did that before I hit 10K and my first year of ownership, prices did go up a few hundred bucks after that. In my case Saccucci Honda won the business. Should be some threads all over Honda...
  4. Is an Extended Warranty Worth It on a 2023 Acura Integra?

its insurance like anything else, what is the value to you. At 5K I would not, but the Honda warranty should still be available from online dealers who do this in volume. i would expect plans would be well under 2500 depending on what you want. I extended mine to 8/120K before first year of...
  5. HOMELINK

For what it is, yes its more then a 1 beer job in terms of being annoying, but I waited a year to do this and that was just dumb on my part, I should have done it pretty much after getting the car. Re-assembling the mirror ball/spring was easy using a hard surface (I used the flat top of a...
  6. Your choice of coating, sealant, or wax?

I expect 3-4 years out of the coats I did but I also have cars that are garage kept. The initial coating is minor correction/chemical de-iron, washing, cleaning, then application. Not hard, just takes time. I don't over wash, but do wash with recommended soap, and I have used Reload once a year...
  7. Your choice of coating, sealant, or wax?

I have used both Quartz along with DIY Detail's products as consumer friendly ceramics. Anyone who does a good job of detailing themselves (doesn't rush, knows less is more, can use a DA for basic cleaning/prep yada yada) they are easy products to work with. This includes Skin for the front PPF...
  8. Bolt Ons: Intake / Intercooler / Header / Exhaust: Has Acura or Your Dealership Shop Heckled YOU or Denied Warranty on Your Integra Over Them?

First, your interpretation of the MM act is incorrect. Its OK, most of the internet has it wrong. The act is in place for if you use a OEM part for a *repair* or maintenance item, the manufacturer can't void your warranty. That STP paper air filter vs. the honda one is an example. If you...
  9. Anyone tempted to trade in for this?

The Z is an enthusiast bargain, just gets no love. Who cares if its based on a old platform. If that platform is good, it works. Plenty of good cars have done this. Having owned at the same time a 370 sport and 981, they are very different experiences. If I didn't still have the 981, I'd be...
  10. OEM Coolant

Floor prep is key for epoxy, even with new concrete pour. Acid edge, dry it, clean it, coat it. Lot of info out there for DIY or you hire a pro. Been near 10 years since I did my new garage, the EpoxyCoat is still doing its thing. Only the expansion cracks had a bit of chipping. I...
  11. How do I view the Oil Life Monitor?

right steering wheel scroll through the different menus until Oil life. Page 630 in the 2024 user manual. If low miles, it should trigger a change after 1 year when miles are not hit.
  12. Is this normal for the temperature gauge ?

Most all of the stock temp gauges these days are idiot gauges . MFGs moved to lowest common denominator engineering years ago so they didn't get questions about gauges moving past 1/2 or what not, or it went up 10f in stop/go traffic with the AC on, must be broken. Remeber, a person is...
  13. Shot in the dark...

There is a price point where a used car with mods is worth the risk, higher miles, or a dollar amount that won't hurt you a ton. 45K is not chump change for nearly every person in america to just walk away from. Stock ones with a few less miles are in that price range: this isn't a 35K deal so...
  14. Transmission Fluids

after parking at EWR the last two nights with its 0F overnight lows, I returned at 10am today, car cranked a bit slower as expected and shifted with only a hint of brrrr by the gear box, which didn't take too long to get some temp in it getting on the highway. Honda MTL is damn good OEM fluid. :)
  15. What enthusiast car do you think compliments the Type S well?

Miata is always an answer (and a damn fine one) however if you are trying to compliment the Type S we need Class leading shifting Class leading suspension Roof (roadsters are just different and the chassis is not as tight) this leads us to a 981 Cayman or even a 718. They shift...
  16. How are you keeping your white Integras not constantly filthy?

This is my third white car, second white Integra in fact. I have had Black/red/yellow/silver/3 shades of blue. White, by far, looks the cleanest from 20' or more away. Get close and sure any car is going to look dirty. The dirt/salt this time of year you spot from the moon on a dark car.
  17. Just did B12

I can only guess to the warning being there as there is no dipstick to actually check the fluid level for someone who is not mechanically inclined. The manuals are written with that in mind in a litigious society that rewards stupidity in too many cases. Oh, you burned your hand trying to check...
  18. Just did B12

I personally am a fan of regular, but not OCD, fluid changes. OEMs stretch a lot of maintenance intervals to show a reduced TCO, but for the DIY crowd our time is free and the costs for fluids is nominal. Given the manual transmission fill bolt is under air filter, its a nice time to do it when...
  19. Speedbleeder Recommendations

For air only, I gather you are just using a bit in the master cylinder, pressurize, but have to constantly disconnect, re-fill, re-connect, and make sure you don't push too much out and go too low. I'm good with fluid in there, one time connect, disconnect. Balance of efficiency in methods :)...
  20. Speedbleeder Recommendations

Motive system pays for itself on first bleeding. Buy extra hose as after several years the rubber hose will age and crack, and you don't want a 15psi blowout crack in the hose. Ask me how I know... When done, flush it with denatured alcohol, it will air dry and will last decades if taken care of.
