Does this style intake have performance benefits or detriments? It seems like it would dramatically raise intake air temperature.

The intake pulls air from inside the wheel well so it's cool air outside the engine compartment you can see the filter location on my install video. It is also much less restrictive. According to prl dyno pulls it is 16+ hp and 9+ lb-ft or torque. I am posting a video next week with a comparison of the Cobra and hvi intake and why we cose this one. You can see the dyno chart on the prl site. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Oh i see, I was confusing this with another intake where the filter is at the top of the engine bay. Those gains are impressive and it sounds great! How often would you need to service that filter, though? Seems like a huge pain.

Yeah it's definitely gonna be a pain. I don't think it will take more than 15min or so but certainly not as easy as ones up top. I think the recommended interval is like 15k and I'll try and stick to that. Filter change with a timer will make a good video in a few months lol.
